    Hi, could I ask, if I have an experiment that seeks to measure which burger is more popular, through a forced choice survey that only allows a selection of one burger, Would that affect construct validity, considering that I have failed to account that someone may like both burgers equally much, or may dislike both burgers? Would this pertain to construct validity? Or internal validity?

    You have a socialistic belief system that relies on a different reality/narrative in order to create/justify a state level dependency system. Thus the painting of social security as something other than what it actually is; A retirement savings program. That's the only way socialism can really take root. The ability to accumulate wealth, even to meet basic needs, and achieve independence financially and to avoid a dependency on the state is fundamental for human self-actualization. People from around the world leave other scenarios in droves to have a chance in our meritocracy and value what we have highly. Immigrants who have had feet in both worlds are, perhaps, the best ones to listen to.

      That logical fallacy is called "attacking the motive". I usually take it to mean that my conversation partner has nothing else to argue of substance. But, to be clear, I am not the one who is doing backflips to characterize taking money from earners and giving it to non-earners as something that it isn't.

    Science can determine the fact of values. Just not the goodness of them. Such and such a person, say Kristen Stewart, thinks movie stars ought to rule the world. A fact or not a fact. Whether that fact is good nobody knows how to prove. Some facts are trivial. Eg, that a pebble is on the side of a road somewhere. Some values are trivial. That a loser who thinks their values don't matter believes something. What does "trivial" means here? Weber was determined by Simmel. An early reader of Nietzche. Nietzche took over the idea from Kant. Kant had given content to Hume's trivial statement.

    "moving away from Socialism isn't going to do people much good." LOL. Well moving away from California seems to be doing people a LOT of good. " Social Security is welfare." No. It is a benefit we receive after paying for it over our work lifetimes. The bar has been set really low with this guy.

    • @JosephCohenNYC
      @JosephCohenNYC 2 роки тому

      Taxes from taxpayers and given to the non-working. That's redistribution. There is no actual savings account where all this money has been invested and grown-- it's not a pension fund. You paid for the old people and poor people when you were paying taxes, and now someone else is doing it for you. The idea that Social Security is not redistribution and not welfare is something that people tell themselves so that they can take other people's money but still rail against socialism.

      @@JosephCohenNYC Sort of but not entirely true. I work and pay social security taxes and then when I retire I have the equivalent of pension wealth for the rest of my life. In addition, I may qualify for survivor benefits for my young children or spousal benefits as well. It is a forced savings plan for people who worked a certain amount of time to qualify for benefits. Who then draw on it later in life. To describe Social security receipients as " the non-working" is a fairly serious mis-representation. They are retired and drawing an earned retirement benefit that they contributed to.

    • @JosephCohenNYC

      @@marcsherman4862 You can construe any arrangement in which the government takes money from earners to non-earners as something other than welfare redistribution. Ultimately, the majority of elderly people did not save enough on their to survive outside of government programs, and so the government forces earners to give up part of their paycheck to prop them up economically. The politicians will pander to the elderly, telling them that it's their savings. It's not. No money was ever saved. It was always socialism.

    • @JosephCohenNYC
      @JosephCohenNYC 2 роки тому

      Many welfare recipients feel entitled to help. They understand there to be a social contract that requires society to ensure basic living standards for them. I do not look down on any of them, Social Security recipients or the poor. I believe that everyone deserves a high basic living standard. I am not sympathetic to the disgust that some recipients to others. In the eyes of some very rich, anyone who replies on any service - schools and Social Security included - is a taker who is worthy of scorn.

    • @marcsherman4862
      @marcsherman4862 2 роки тому

      @@JosephCohenNYC The catch is it is an earner to an earner situation. I am an earner, and I will still be that earner in the future at the time of my social security withdrawl. " Politicans will pander to the elderly." Sounds like a cognitive bias frankly. Some folks rely on pensions in leiu of social security, (like teachers who get effected by the WEP provision), some prefer annuities. Social security is another earned stream of income, important to most working adults later in life. In the US, social security is part of a social contract with the government. There certainly is room for changes, additions etc. But the monies the vast majority receive was earned by them during their working years.

    As a single person I managed to buy a home with a 30-year fixed mortgage paid that off in 14 years purchased a three-year-old car and pay that off in half the loan I carry no debt two years ago I started drawing Social Security at $1069 a month I put $200 month into savings I take the rest and pay my utilities the rest I divide by however many weeks that social security check has to last and that is what I live on I do have a small 401k and Roth IRA no work pension year-and-a-half liquid savings I put all three of my stimulus checks into savings when I needed a roof 8 years ago I paid cash when I bought new furnace and air conditioning unit 4 years ago paid cash new living room furniture 3 years ago paid cash I bought a new refrigerator last September so I guess you could say technically one of my stimulus checks went to that but it was more than $1,200 I've been careful with the way I shop this may not be easy for others depending on the state you live in I live in Illinois. I will say after working 20 years with the same employer I was making $13.80 an hour not a lot by some people's standards but I did okay
